Addicted to Your Morning Cup of Joe? You May Want to Try These Healthier Alternatives to Coffee

For a lot of people, the morning cup of coffee starts their day but isn’t good for the body. In micro-quantities, some benefits accrue for your health, but it irritates the stomach, dehydrates you, gives a headache and stains your teeth. Maybe identifying healthier alternatives would be better and some options are:

Kombucha Tea

Kombucha is fermented black or green tea, sugars, yeast and bacteria, and originates from the Far East. This is a good probiotic drink and an excellent source of B vitamins, especially B12. Kombucha’s benefits include disease prevention, healthy guts and lungs besides managing diabetes. It is available at various health food stores and even distributed by Amazon. However, you could make your own with the ingredients as preferred.

Green Tea

Green tea has only 33 % caffeine than what you drink in a cup of coffee, but the great health benefits offered wouldn’t be bad if you drank a lot of it. Green tea contains vast amounts of catechins that are antioxidants which can fight cell damage as it is minimally processed. It also has great benefits for the heart and brain and helps to stabilise blood sugar.

Wheatgrass juice

You have often seen wheatgrass sold at juice bar outlets in small shot glasses or as additives to other drinks and juices. It is very rich in nutrients, and fans claim lots of benefits such as better skin, weight loss benefits and increased stimulation to name just a few. Besides, it is naturally energizing and can be a great morning drink. One of the best and cheapest ways of introducing it into daily diet is to use the power form to mix up in drinks,  whenever needed.

It is also linked to reduction of joint inflammation causing arthritis. Pomegranate juice replaces not only coffee, but orange juice too!

Black Tea

Black tea is different from white and green tea, as it is oxidised and fermented while being processed which imparts its health benefits. It has a very positive effect on cardiovascular disease, and helps relieve asthma symptoms, besides reducing cholesterol and assists in digestive issues.

Apple cider vinegar

This is a caffeine-free alternative to coffee with multiple beneficial effects on your blood sugar levels. It could even assist in weight loss therapies.
